Hello Digi CNX Community,
We are excited to announce our next meet up on June 5.
Creator Culture refers to the accelerated rise of multiple cultural industries that have emerged on and across social media platforms. This phenomenon is characterized by the practice and labor of social media entrepreneurs, whether they are YouTubers, TikTokers, vloggers, gamers, streamers, influencers, creators, or, in China, wanghong 网红, zhibo直播, or KOLs.
As a pioneer in the field of creator and wanghong studies, USC Annenberg Professor Craig has spent a decade mapping these industries across diverse platforms. He distinguishes content verticals and modalities from media content, creator-framed communities from fandom, identifies diverse creator-run business models and revenue streams, and assesses the broader socio-cultural and political influence of creator cultures. This talk will provide an overview of his research, considering how global and national creator cultures inform the future of economies, labor, and society.
ICDI has graciously offered to host this event so we have lots of space. Please tell your friends.
Date: June 5

May 22 was Bitcoin Pizza Day
For those who missed it, Digi-CNX co-hosted a Global Pizza Party with ICDI, CMUBA, and 4Seas to celebrate 14 years since the first use of Bitcoin in a transaction for a real-world good – 2 large pizzas. The party was sponsored by PizzaDAO.
It was a great opportunity to get all the different blockchain and other communities together to share their thoughts on how this space will continue to grow in the future and some of the challenges that need to be addressed.
With Ethereum Foundation’s Devcon set for Bangkok in November several related Web3 communities will also be visiting Chiang Mai. We expect to have more Web3 focused programming coming up. If you are interested in engaging in anyway please reach out to us.
