We invite you to a documentary screening and discussion on 16 July from 8:00 PM at The Commune.

We will be watching the Leviathan, a newly released documentary by Alexander Beiner, Founder of Kainos Substack. The documentary explores the question: why social trust is breaking down, through mythology, systems theory, psychology, and more, inviting us to examine the roots of our systems and point towards healing and action.

At our cosmo-local event “bridging sacred with science” in June, we explored why these crises can be understood as ‘wicked’ policy problems-complex challenges with no single cause or solution, arising from an internal, spiritual crisis.

This documentary continues on this thread, featuring several prominent thinkers such as  Josh Schrei (Host of ‘The Emerald’), John Vervaeke (Professor of Cognitive Science and author of Awakening from the Meaning Crisis), and Yanis Varoufakis (Professor of Economics and former Finance Minister of Greece), one of the early proponents of cosmo-localism, and more.

Our screening is part of over 85 official test collective screenings taking place world wide. Following the screening, we’ll hold space for group reflection and discussion. The intention behind such a screenings is to create real connections around important topics raised during the documentary. This includes practises to help us feel more embodied and spark authentic conversations.

There will be drinks and Burmese food available at The Commune CNX. We’ll also be joined by the Seapunk community—a network of researchers, activists, technologists, and creatives imagining more authentic futures for Southeast Asia—who are currently hosting a studio in Chiang Mai for the week.

Cost to attend: 100 THB (to help cover space and organizing).
Limited seating (max 25 people)—please register in advance to confirm your spot.
