Welcome To Digital Humanities Un-College

The Digital Humanities Un-College (or the Un-College for short) is an initiative by digi-cnx and collaborators to offer nomads and Chiang Mai residents the chance to join or lead college-style learning activities on topics of their interest, under the broad umbrella of the ‘digital humanities’ (technology, society, history, innovation, the cosmo-local, policy, ethics, and more!).

Reflections from our community

“One of the most informative and intimate events I’ve ever been to. Not only did I learn from the mentor, but the setting sparked curiosity to connect and keep collaborating with others.”
Andrej Berlin

Deep Work

“I’ve appreciated the topic around the cosmo-local transitions, as well as the mindset and unique professional and life experience both the speaker and the attendees had”
Aleksandar Abu Samra

Eudaform Labs

“digi-cnx combines highly intellectual knowledge with down-to-earth experience and predicament, unpacking the entanglement between digital technologies and humanity.”

What is an Un-College?

An un-conference is a participant-driven meeting with:

Agenda Created By Attendees

An open agenda or curriculum to which anyone can propose, lead, and join sessions.

Loose Set of Resources Provided

A loose set of resources to facilitate coordination and meetings are provided by event facilitators for attendees (e.g., time slots for scheduling and suitable types of meeting spaces)

Culture of Openness

The un-college fosters a culture of openness to discussion, suggestions, and creation.

An un-college is a learner-driven gathering in similar spirit to an unconference, but with a focus on college-type learning activities (e.g., reading groups, seminars, workshops, projects) and a longer timescale vs. a typical meeting or conference (e.g., days or weeks vs. hour or days), which facilitates greater depth of thought, learning, inquiry, and discussion.
