Our planet faces a a number of interconnected crises from climate and technology to health and food attributed to the design of our economic and political systems and institutions. At the heart is the metacrises – a spiritual crises related to meaning and disconnection from each other.
To address the root of our crises we need system level change that starts from understanding of our own true nature.

Building a Cosmo-local Chiang Mai Network
A local ‘cosmo-local’ network of change-makers: pioneer, bridge builder, local initiator, open-source developer, or digital nomad.
Cosmo-local Chiang Mai workshop / September 2024
In October 2024, several Web3 global communities converged in Chiang Mai for “gathering of villages” that brought innovative and thoughtful change-makers with interests in topics such as climate, AI, art, regeneration, etc. In season 1 of Cosmo-local Chiang Mai we experimented with a 1-day workshop bringing together 26 leaders of pop-up cities, local artists and change makers, academics, Web3 community to connect and learn together and identify the areas where more connections and collaboration can be created.

Why Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai is a well-recognized global hub for digital nomads and remote work professionals, with connections to leading institutions and global projects addressing important contemporary challenges, from digital innovation to climate action. The city has also historically been a center for movements focused on regeneration in areas such as climate, politics, agriculture, art, and infrastructure, deeply rooted in Buddhist culture and indigenous wisdoms and practices that connect people to the land.
Global trends around digital nomadism and regional geopolitics point to a greater inflow of people into Chiang Mai, helped by a more accommodating visa regime. This brings socio-economic benefits to Chiang Mai as well as exciting opportunities for experiments with paradigm pushing experiments. However, these trends are not without risks and challenges to the local ecology, community, and economic balance.
